IMD business school for management and leadership courses
Tencent has been investing in AI research and development since 2016, when it established its AI lab to conduct research in artificial intelligence, including machine learning, natural language understanding, and computer vision. In September 2023, it unveiled Hunyuan, a large language model that Tencent claims can outperform ChatGPT on certain benchmarks. These AI-powered solutions are integrated into products such as QQ, WeChat, and Tencent Video, enhancing user experiences and boosting engagement.
For its customers, Tencent’s AI supports targeted ad campaigns, FinTech services, and smart cockpit solutions in the automotive sector. Their Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) enables enterprises to adopt industry-specific large language models, optimizing processes and reducing costs.
Tencent is also committed to responsible AI. In 2022, it published its first Explainable AI Report, highlighting its efforts to implement AI responsibly. In September 2023, Tencent introduced and enacted its AI Data Security Management Policy, which mandates principles for AI data handling.
