The IMD Alumni Association supports IMD’s growing alumni community around the world. It aims to bring IMD’s global alumni closer together, and to cater to their needs by complementing activities organized by the local alumni clubs, the Alumni Program Communities, and Alumni Communities of Interest. Its three pillars are: connect, learn, and develop.
Anyone eligible for IMD alumni status can join the IMD Alumni Association. Participants receive alumnus/a status by completing an Open or Custom program with a minimum 10 full days of interactions over time, or by completing a combination of Open, Custom or Online programs that cumulatively represent a minimum of 10 full days of interactions over time. More details on the IMD alumni policy conditions can be found here.
Membership of the IMD Alumni Association is annual and runs from 1 January to 31 December. You will be reminded to renew your membership before it runs out.
The IMD Alumni Association complements the activities of alumni clubs. Alumni clubs operate in the city or country in which they are situated. The IMD Alumni Association, however, allows alumni to connect globally through online activities, special programming, and exclusive benefits.
If you are a part of an alumni club with an annual membership fee, your IMD Alumni Association membership is complimentary. However, you still must login to your MyIMD portal and “sign up” so that we may associate your name with member benefits.
When you buy/renew your club membership, you can add your IMD Alumni Association membership to the basket at no additional cost.
Please contact the alumni club directly. Alumni clubs are independently managed, and the IMD Alumni Association membership does not include club membership.
Alumni clubs are very welcoming to travelling alumni. However, it is best to contact the club directly and in advance of your travel dates for specific information about their next meeting or event.

The IMD Alumni Association uses membership fees to fund alumni programs and special alumni projects.

Alumni clubs are independently registered associations in countries around the world where IMD alumni reside. They are all diverse in nature and they carry their own local characteristics and spirit. Some clubs are run in countries where the alumni community is large, some in areas where the community is smaller. Some clubs have an annual agenda of planned educational events and social activities, while others organize activities more spontaneously.
All clubs share the same interest in engaging and working towards a strong and thriving alumni network. But as independent entities, each alumni club has its own approach to membership.
Some clubs host many events and charge ticket fees to cover costs. Other clubs charge annual membership fees, and some charge a combination of both. If you are curious about joining a club, contact the club’s committee directly. More information is available here.
Clubs are independent legal entities from IMD. So, if you wish to receive invitations to club events in your country, you must become a member of that club. Your membership gives the club the right to contact you under data privacy regulations.
Becoming a member of the IMD Alumni Association doesn’t automatically translate to club membership. You get to choose the way in which you engage with IMD.
The IMD Alumni Association and alumni clubs are separate for several reasons:
- First, alumni clubs are independent legal entities with different fee structures and contact preferences.
- Second, if you are a citizen of one country and travel frequently to another, you can technically become a member of more than one club.
- Finally, data privacy regulations mean that you are in control of your memberships and contact preferences.
First check that you have an updated email on your MyIMD profile and then verify that your membership is listed in the section “My Memberships.”

All IMD alumni are welcome to participate in any Community of Interest that aligns with their interests. There are no formal membership requirements.
You can explore and join Alumni Communities of Interest through the MyIMD alumni portal or by registering to the mailing list in the “My Subscriptions” section of the portal.
- Communities of Interest are global, theme-based groups focused on specific industries or topics.
- Alumni clubs are geographically-based and focus on networking and engagement within a specific location.
Alumni interested in forming a new Alumni Community of Interest must identify a clear purpose that aligns with IMD’s mission, form a leadership team, and submit a proposal to the IMD Development & Alumni Relations Office for approval.
