Jan van der Kaaij
Experience & Background
Jan van der Kaaij brings deep expertise in sustainability to IMD. He is a creative sustainability expert with a hands-on approach in strategy development, DJSI, and sustainable innovation.
Following a commercial career in food and telecoms, he was Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Priority Telecom/Liberty Global. He founded his sustainability advisory business in 1997.
Over the past two decades, van der Kaaij and his team have advised multinationals and family businesses such as McDonald’s, Telenet, DSM, Miguel Torres, Randstad, LANXESS, and HJHeinz. His specialty is designing and effectively implementing value-generating sustainability strategies into the core of the business.
Since 2003, he has been a frequent case writer and guest speaker on sustainable innovation at various business schools around the globe, and in 2013 he won an EFMD Case Writing Competition Award for co-authoring an IMD case about Bavaria’s green guerrilla marketing.
He is a logistics engineer and a CPIM-certified supply chain professional. He holds an EMBA degree from IMD (2005).
