Experience & Background

Lehmann is a senior leader with more than 25 years of experience at group executive board and board of director levels in globally leading bank and insurance companies. With a proven ability to work collaboratively within a diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary organization, he has strong strategic, operational, risk leadership, crisis management, and executive oversight capabilities.  

At UBS, he was initially a member of the Board of Directors before moving to the Group Executive Board, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, joint President of Personal and Corporate Banking, and President of Switzerland. He previously enjoyed a longstanding career at Zurich Insurance Group, holding a series of roles on the Group Executive Committee, such as CEO of Zurich‘s European and North American businesses, Group Chief Risk Officer with additional responsibilities for Group IT, Regional Chairman for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Chairman of Farmers Group Inc.  

Lehmann is an Affiliate Professor for Business Administration and Service Management and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Institute of Insurance Economics at the University of St. Gallen. He holds a master’s degree in business administration and economics, obtained his doctorate with an award-winning dissertation, and received habitation in business administration and service management from the University of St. Gallen. He is also a graduate of the Wharton Advanced Management Program (AMP), University of Pennsylvania.
