Examine how blockchain and fintech innovations are redefining finance
Blockchain and the Future of Finance explores the evolution of financial technology (fintech), and sheds light on how it can be used to unlock opportunities and yield unique benefits. This program is offered jointly by IMD and GetSmarter.
Guided by IMD Professor of Finance Arturo Bris, you’ll consider how fintech innovations give rise to new business models and learn about global trends in open banking. The program will share perspectives from around the world to improve your understanding of the finance applications of blockchain technology and the complex world of cryptocurrencies. You’ll explore the history and functionalities of Bitcoin and Ethereum, and familiarize yourself with the token economy and the impact of utility and asset tokens on the financial market.
You’ll learn to navigate the realm of decentralized finance (DeFi), discuss its social and economic impact, and look into the uses of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Throughout the five weeks, you’ll discover strategies for responding to disruption and reflect on how to apply new insights to your own context for personal or business gain.
You can take this program as a stand-alone course or as part of the IMD Executive Certificate in Digital Business Excellence or the IMD Online Executive Certificate.
