For the third consecutive year, IMD Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family Business Alfredo De Massis and IMD Professor of Family Business and Entrepreneurship Peter Vogel have been recognized among the world’s Top 25 Family Enterprise Academics by the Family Capital.

“This recognition, for the third time in a row, is both humbling and inspiring,” said De Massis. “It reminds me of Isaac Newton’s famous words: ‘If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.’ This honor reflects not just my efforts but also the invaluable contributions of colleagues, mentors, and the family businesses and family offices whose stories and activities continue to shape and enrich my experiences and this field. This motivates me to continue helping families create a galaxy that prospers across generations.”

De Massis is an award-winning expert in the management and governance of family enterprises. His research examines the key factors that contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of these businesses across generations. He explores how family business leaders balance economic and non-economic goals while managing the paradox between tradition and innovation.

Securing the second position in the overall ranking, Vogel shared “I am truly honored to be recognized as one of the Top 25 most influential academics for the third time in the family enterprise field by Family Capital Publishing. This recognition is a testament to the importance of practical, impactful research that empowers family enterprises to thrive across generations. I’m deeply grateful to my colleagues, collaborators, and the incredible team at IMD’s Global Family Business Center for their support and inspiration. This milestone energizes me to continue contributing to this vital field and to building a stronger, sustainable future for family enterprises worldwide.”

Vogel leads IMD’s work in this field as Director of the IMD Global Family Business Center. He is also holder of the Debiopharm Chair of Family Philanthropy. In his research, teaching, and advisory work, he collaborates with families, owners, boards, and executives of family enterprises, and family offices worldwide.
