Following this year’s Top 100 Swiss Startup Awards, IMD is especially thrilled to announce that four of the top 10 startups, including the highest-ranked company, DePoly, have collaborated with the institute.

The Valais-based cleantech startup rose from 10th place in 2023 to claim the top spot with its innovative plastic recycling technologies aimed at creating a cleaner world. Samantha Anderson, co-founder and CEO of DePoly, worked with IMD’s MBAs in 2021.

IMD’s MBA and EMBA participants have been providing input and support to entrepreneurs since 1999, enhancing their prospects for funding and success. In addition, in a joint venture with the canton de Vaud, IMD has been supporting scaleup hopefuls for the past three years.

Aside from DePoly, the other businesses in the top 10 that have collaborated with IMD were a renewable energy solutions provider Voltiris (#6), sustainable chemical producer Bloom Biorenewables (#7), and drone-based solutions provider Flybotix (#9).

“It’s remarkable to see so many of the startups we’ve worked with earning top spots in this year’s ranking,” said Jim Pulcrano, IMD Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship. “I’m also very excited to see several ventures in the top 100 that will be collaborating with our EMBAs starting this month: Tune Insight (14), WattAnyWhere (22), Seprify (25), Ascento (27), apheros (58), and qCella (91).”

In addition to the top early-stage startups, nine of the top 25 scaleups – companies older than five years – have also worked with IMD.

IMD EMBA alumni Aris Maroonian also received recognition for his startup, Neology, which ranked #49 in the Top 100 and was developed during his Executive MBA program.

With a focus on companies that are up to five years old, the Top 100 Swiss Startup Awards recognize innovative ventures breaking new ground across sectors such as cleantech, engineering, and fintech.

Held this year in Lausanne, the event brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and key supporters of the Swiss startup ecosystem and once again highlighted the strength of the Swiss startup ecosystem.
