IMD Professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior Jennifer Jordan has been named as one of the top 40 international business school professors under 40 years old.
Poets&Quants, a leading business-education focused publication, has announced its annual Best 40 Under 40 Professors for 2019, in which they give recognition to the best business school master program teachers nominated by students, alumni, faculty and staff.
“Jennifer is a stellar colleague. Highly student-oriented, invested in the class, cares about outcomes, available and keen to support at an individual level. She has a great intellect and is grounded and relevant,” Seán Meehan, Dean of the MBA Program at IMD said. “Jennifer deserves recognition for showing the MBA candidates what leadership really means, for allowing them to discover themselves and for building their confidence and resilience. In addition, she champions gender diversity.”
Among the factors the Poets&Quants team highlighted as contributing to her selection was that Jennifer Jordan’s research in digital leadership, ethics, power, and morality is in such demand that she has been cited almost 1,500 times by other academics.
Trained as a social psychologist, Jennifer Jordan was previously an Assistant Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands and a post-doctoral fellow at the Kellogg School of Management and Tuck School of Business in the U.S. She received her doctoral degree and two Master’s degrees in Philosophy and Psychology from Yale University and is also on the editorial board of the journals Leadership Quarterly and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Professor Jordan was also a speaker at the 2017 and 2019 Africa CEO Forum where she shared her expertise on building leaders in African companies.
Faculty colleagues and administrators say:
“Jennifer is an outstanding professor. She has a keen intellect and does a great job integrating state-of-the-art research findings into her classes. She’s also very good at engaging students and at inspiring them to strive to become better leaders.”
“For me, the greatest learning from her lectures was finally realizing that leadership is not about commanding people but rather realizing what your impact on people is and how are you impacted by others as well as how these interactions emerge in your decisions as a leader. She is a patient listener who is quite approachable.”
“Jennifer resonates the true spirit of her leadership class: a kind, inspiring and motivating reference for us.”
Jennifer Jordan teaches on IMD’s MBA program. She is the Director of the Leading in the Digital Age and Leadership Essentials programs. Professor Jordan has received specialized training and certifications in lie- and truthfulness-detection, as well as in conflict resolution within organizations.
