IMD business school for management and leadership courses
Advancement
Once again, the impact of IMD’s community was clearly visible, notably with numerous Giving Day scholarship recipients embarking upon their IMD learning experience. In 2023 alone, the IMD community supported six participants of the MBA cohort.
In their own words, these scholarship opportunities “propelled” and “empowered” them in their transformative leadership journeys.
In addition, EMBA and Open Program participants also benefitted from the generosity of IMD’s Giving Day donors.
The impact of this combined generosity will continue reverberating across geographies and for years to come as these scholarship recipients go on, as IMD alumni and strong leaders, to transform organizations and contribute to a prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive world.
First BackPack MBA graduate
The inaugural BackPack-Excellence Scholarship for Women bursary recipient – Sorelle Djankou Djeuga, a mechanical engineer from Cameroon – completed her MBA at IMD in 2023.
“In addition to providing me with financial assistance to complete this program, members of the BackPack Foundation have been a tremendous support throughout this journey. My metaphorical backpack is now surely filled with more than it needs to complete this journey successfully, and I am confident for a brighter future.”
Scholarships open up greater opportunities
The shared belief in the power of executive education led to some of IMD’s longstanding partners establishing new scholarship programs to ensure that excellence continues to meet opportunity.
The Hilti STEM Scholars Program supports the brightest students with a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics background who wish to pursue an MBA by offering valuable financial assistance. The first group of six candidates were awarded a scholarship in 2023.
“Joining IMD has been my goal for a long time, and the scholarship meant I could pursue my goal undeterred. It significantly reduces my financial burden, and I feel encouraged by Hilti, who push women in STEM like me to strive for excellence.”
Additionally, the Jebsen Family established two new scholarship programs in 2023 to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in leadership roles by generously offering financial aid to selected applicants.
The Jebsen Family Global South MBA & EMBA Scholars Program exists to strengthen leadership by providing scholarship funding to participants from the Global South. At least half of these merit and needs-based scholarships are to be attributed to women.
The Jebsen Family Global Scholars Program for Non-Profit Executives aims to strengthen the social impact of not-for-profit organizations by enabling their leaders to acquire and develop effective leadership. Again, at least half of these merit- and needs-based scholarships will be attributed to women.
Partnership in the name of actionable, academic excellence
This past year also saw Bruce Grossman, a longstanding Global Family Business alumnus, become the inaugural member of the Center’s Circle of Benefactors.
His support will propel global family business expertise, strengthening the future of enterprising families.
Thank you
The team is grateful to the IMD alumni and the broader IMD community for their commitment and support. IMD’s success is indeed shared – resulting from a combination of factors, including you. Thank you to all who have made this year’s accomplishments possible.
