Center for Future Readiness

The Center for Future Readiness strives to equip leaders with data-driven, evidence-based insights to future-proof their organizations. To achieve this mission, we aim to conduct and publish primary research, popularize it through top-tier media outlets, and build programs with a type of pedagogy in mind that emphasizes scalability.

The Future Readiness Indicator 2023

Initially launched in 2021, the Future Readiness Indicator has expanded its analyses into new verticals. As of the end of 2023, we are now scoring readiness among companies across six industries: automotive, consumer packaged goods (or FMCG), fashion, finance, pharmaceutical, and technology.

Growing reach, engagement, and honors

Our findings, recognized for their relevance and rigor, have captured the imagination of high-level executives and the media. For instance, Mastercard and Microsoft republished our findings in their official accounts.

Top-tier broadcasters provide us with airspace to cover our release. Throughout 2023, CNBC, the BBC World Service, and BBC Radio 4’s Today program consistently covered us multiple times.

At the 2023 biennial Thinkers50 Gala, the Thinkers50 Strategy Award was presented to Howard Yu, LEGO® Professor of Management and Innovation, who leads the Center for Future Readiness. This honor recognized his insights and research on the topic and highlighted the resonance of the Indicator. Howard was also included in the Thinkers50 2023 ranking.

An Indicator and now a program

The Future Readiness Indicator became an Open Program with its first cohort in 2023. Strategy for Future Readiness, led by Howard Yu and Mark Greeven, proposes a practical framework for individuals, teams, and organizations to become future-ready by addressing five critical challenges.

Future Readiness Indicator 2023 – outreach and impact

In 2023, the Center contributed to 12 I by IMD articles and produced original media articles on automotive, technology, and pharma, particularly in Japan Today, Canadian Manufacturing, The Conversation, City A.M., and Forbes.
