IMD business school for management and leadership courses

Online Programs

Our Online Programs offer an impactful, immersive, structured, yet flexible learning experience to participants worldwide. Our extensive portfolio enables participants to gain competencies and skills in leadership, strategy, digital transformation, innovation, and functional topics such as board governance, sustainability, and finance.

A year of major learning innovation

We deployed a broad range of innovations to our online programs in 2023 to enhance learning impact. Notable features appreciated by our participants included the rollout of a new learning platform with a strong emphasis on gamification, an engaging simulation, ‘Let’s Move’ created by Bettina Büchel, allowing participants to discover the challenges of stakeholder management in real time together with optimized solutions.

The Lean Intrepreneurship program and platform was used by large firms seeking to improve their corporate venturing activities and apply Lean principles to help teams create new products and services.

NovoEd is a gamified learning platform that is user-friendly, intuitive, and based on a social and collaborative approach. Introduced into our online and open Sprint programs in late 2023, it has enhanced participant engagement and satisfaction in online progress for over 1,800 participants.

“The flexibility of the program, everything was on the same platform. I could connect on my laptop and listen to the videos while driving from home to work. Meetings were short, and thanks to the point system, I could maintain focus and motivation.”

Online program participant 2023

Our change simulation innovation, ‘Let’s Move,’ generates holistic reflections, improves team dynamics online, and is perceived as a real-world scenario. In 2023, it helped over 450 participants learn how to navigate among different stakeholder perspectives in a matrix organization.

In 2023, IMD created a virtual campus in the Metaverse. The campus was used to create additional interaction between participants in online programs and also served as a virtual arena for highly interactive activities.

Global Signals is one such activity that enabled participants to explore and focus on key global trends in a range of themed virtual environments. Introduced online and through custom and face-to-face programs, it drove strong engagement among participants.

IMD also partnered with an AI-driven adaptive learning solution that allows content to be tailored to the needs of each learner based on data analytics. Particularly appreciated as a refresher of content at the end of a module and the end of the program, we introduced this AI feature into several online and custom programs in 2023.

2023 was also a year in which we introduced a range of interactive eLearning tools, creating a wide range of engaging activities for online participants. They particularly appreciated the ability to review key concepts per module and a comprehensive summary of learning points unit by unit.

Enhancing an extensive online program portfolio

In 2023, we enhanced our already extensive online portfolio, which now includes 22 offerings: 19 programs and three Sprints. This included revamping the content of programs such as our Generative AI Sprint and introducing a new offering on stress management with the Resilient Leadership Sprint.

Our most popular programs continued to drive growth: Leadership Essentials, Inspirational Leadership, Change Management, and the award-winning Mastering Board Governance.

“IMD’s Change Management program gave me a holistic perspective on exploring change management through various lenses. I also gained insights into strategy and leadership that will enable me to inspire, mobilize, and incorporate change.”

Javier Peláez Giró, HR Manager Spain & IT Global HRBP – Support Functions, Arxada

In 2023, our award-winning online learning programs continued to provide personalized learning to participants worldwide. Over 96% of participants stated that their IMD online learning experience had enabled them to gain fresh knowledge and practical ideas relevant to them.
