This case describes an organization’s quest for fundamental change in its corporate culture and the pivotal role played by human resources professionals in achieving it. Responding to an evolving industry and competitive environment, the bank critically examined the internal processes and procedures that deeply influenced how its employees worked and interacted with clients and each other. In order to remain a financial services leader, HR practices had to more closely reflect market realities while staying true to the institution’s core values.
