August 2002
Reference: IMD-3-1116

This case is about the team and teamwork behind West Side Story: A Broadway musical created in the mid-1950s that changed the face of American theater. The case illustrates how a team of powerful “virtuoso” all-stars created and conceptualized, collaborated, and shared leadership roles during the project that launched West Side Story–from its inception to worldwide success. In addition to featuring leadership and teamwork, the case illustrates how the entire organization, structure and cast were choreographed and managed to create a final product that is ever-lasting in the minds of many.
