November 2024

IMD has been reaccredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), affirming the institution’s place among the world’s top business schools. The accreditation renewal – awarded for the maximum term of six years – underscores the institute’s commitment to delivering world-class learning, rigorous research, and impactful leadership development.

“This reaccreditation recognizes our continuous pursuit of excellence,” said David Bach, President and Nestlé Professor of Strategy and Political Economy. “The achievement reflects the efforts of our faculty, staff, and alumni towards driving innovation and fostering impactful change in pursuit of our mission to be the most impactful business school in the world.”

AACSB’s review processes evaluate institutions in the areas of strategic management and innovation, teaching effectiveness, and academic and professional engagement. As part of lengthy self-assessment reporting requirements, institutions must present strategies for positive societal impact and documentation of past actions and results.

The three visiting international deans – two from top business schools in Asia and one from a top school in Europe – commended the institute in several areas. They especially praised and remarked on the:

  • Exceedingly high appreciation from degree program participants
  • Innovative, forward-thinking design and development of programs
  • Broad reach of research and thought leadership publications
  • Impressive development of the I by IMD content platform and magazine
  • Robust integration of sustainability and DE&I themes
  • Cohesiveness of the faculty, staff, alumni, and participant communities

In their final report, the three-person review team wrote, “A strong sense of community and shared vision was evident in all meetings with faculty and staff. The PRT noted that there was a clear understanding of and commitment to the Institute’s mission, a real desire to ‘make a difference’, and pride in the Institute’s accomplishments and global standing, ranging from an engaged and cohesive leadership team and also encompassing the wider Institute community. The PRT commends the Institute’s community on their collective efforts to maintain and advance IMD’s positioning as a global leader in high-impact executive and postgraduate business education and thought leadership.”
